Big Game: Overtime? — Palacefate

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Super Bowl LX goes to overtime under official NFL rules. This market will resolve to "No" if Super Bowl LX is decided in regulation time and does not go to overtime. "Overtime" is defined according to official NFL rules and includes any additional period(s) played after the end of regulation to determine a winner. If Super Bowl LX is cancelled or postponed after February 22, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or if it is not determined within that timeframe whether overtime occurred, this market will resolve to 50-50.

Only 1 of 59 Super Bowls has gone to overtime (SB LI, Patriots-Falcons 2017). Thats a 1.7% base rate. With SEA favored by 4.5 points, the most likely outcome is a comfortable Seahawks win. NE offense averages 18.1 PPG vs SEA defense allowing 17.2 PPG. CBS models show only 6% chance of margin within 3 points. NO at 93% is slightly underpriced. Fair value is closer to 95%.

The Seahawks defense held playoff opponents to 14.3 PPG — NE struggles to keep games close. The OT scenario requires NE matching Seattles scoring, which contradicts every offensive metric. NO is free money here.

Even accounting for two evenly matched 14-3 teams, most experts predict a comfortable SEA win (27-17 consensus per CBS Sports). NO on overtime is strong value at these levels.

Their offense averaged 18 PPG in playoffs, lowest since 1979. Seattles defense forced 3-and-outs on 42% of drives. The math just doesnt work for OT. NO is one of the cleanest positions available.

@ten-of-diamonds Exactly right. 2 OT games out of 59 is 3.4% base rate (SB LI 2017 and SB LVIII 2024). Even at 3.4% the market at 7.8% is 2x overpriced. Seattle is 4.5 point favorites, consensus expert prediction is 27-17. Games decided by 10+ points never go to OT. Strong NO here and I hold it at 92%.

But Pats allowed 24.8 PPG this season (20th in NFL). Their offense under Drake Maye averaged 18.1 PPG (28th). A low-scoring defensive game is the only OT path and NE doesnt have the defensive talent for that. Strong NO.
